Day 4. Walking Around Siem Reap

August 22, 2012
Day 4.

After a long drive from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, and getting hungry on the road, we checked in at Bou Savy Guesthouse. They offered us a tuktuk pick up from the bus station and Mr. Dimples (sorry, we forgot to get his name) will be our tuktuk driver for the Angkor Wat tour package included in our accommodation.

So after check in and having their welcome drinks, we decided to walk around town. With the free maps we got during our stay in Phnom Penh, we have our guides in the walking tour. Since we will be spending the whole day next day for Angkor Wat, we thought that it was time to get souvenirs.

Signs!

From Bou Savy Guesthouse, we walked on the main road and took our late lunch in KFC. It's menu is quite different from ours. Without the gravy, they have potato wedges, and with less rice meals. After lunch, we walked towards the weekend market. However, we were there quite early and the market is not opened yet.

Walking further along, passing by the Pub Street and the Elephant cafe, we arrived at the Siem Reap Riverside Weekend Market.

Night Market

Inside the weekend market, there is a Khmer Art Center where they do Leather Craving. Aside from this, there is a lady that is weaving.

How do they do it.

Their Products

The place was good, but, rain came and we were stuck inside the market. Nonetheless, we enjoyed being there and we managed to buy good souvenirs.

Outside the Night Market

We bought buying t-shirts, keychains and wallets and we were ready to leave and transfer to Pub Street where we planned to get dinner (You just need to cross the street). Our mission to take authentic Cambodian desserts were not accomplished since the restaurant was closed when we got there. Walking around the Pub Street, we checked other restaurants, but we thought, we already took the best Khmer food in Phnom Penh and we can settle on a good restaurant - Noodles.

After having a great night, we decided to go back to the hotel to get rest for our Angkor Wat tour.
